How will your final grade be calculated?

You earn points for each of the five major projects you have and you can earn an unlimited amount of participation points by doing extra work. You can check how many points you have during the semester in a google doc that Dr. Wharton will share with you.

(-From the syllabus-) If you complete and earn the minimum points for all of the major projects, complete all of the class prep, and attend every class, you will earn at least 1,775 points and a grade of “C.” If you complete all of the major projects and accrue at least 3,827 points you will automatically receive a “B.” Once you complete all of the major projects and class prep, and accrue 4,242 points, you will automatically receive an A in the course.

The submission form is where you submit all of your completed work to be graded (and receive points). You use it by submitting a link to your work.

What is the attendance policy?

You will lose 50 points for every unexcused absence and 25 to 50 points for coming to class late.

What is the one way that you can lose points?

Not coming to class and/or not completing assigned work (at all or in a timely fashion.)

You can earn participation credit by completing class prep and doing extra work that is relevant to the class such as making blog posts reviewing class notes, doing a Lynda tutorial, and/or seeing Dr. Wharton at her office. Here are the guidelines for participation points.

How can you be assured of earning an “A” in this course?

By completing all of the major assignments and class prep and getting 4,242 points or more.
